The Deepest Map: The High-Stakes Race to Chart the World’s Oceans – Laura Trethewey

Thoughts: Decent. I discovered The Deepest Map on a recent-acquisitions shelf at the Grande Bibliothèque in Montreal. I found it to be well-written and generally engaging, though it doesn’t quite deliver on the “high-stakes race” promised in the title.

I found the chapters on the crowdsourcing of ocean maps and on submarine archaeology to be the most interesting, and the chapter on deep-sea mining to be the most worrisome.

I didn’t come across anything specific worth noting.
