Ishmael – Daniel Quinn

Thoughts: Ishmael, recommended to me by my friend Emma, is the exposition of a worldview dressed up as a novel. The worldview (that humanity, if we live within the planet’s resources, can be a beginning or notable milestone in the evolution of life and consciousness on Earth, rather than its end point) was inspiring and compelling, but I found the arguments presented in its favour only partially convincing. In any case, Ishmael was a stimulating, thought-provoking, and thoroughly worthwhile read.
