Thoughts: I sought out The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass after hearing it recommended on Complexly's Crash Course on Black American History. I found it interesting how Douglass identified learning to read as instrumental in fuelling his desire to escape slavery. Those interested in the history of slavery in the United States and the abolition movement will likely find Douglass's account worth their time.
